Featured Artists for August
At OzArt Finder we’re proud to feature the works of three artists who each paint in completely different styles ranging from realist to abstract. Here we present realist artist, Steve Leadenham, impressionist artist, Trish Bennett and abstract artist, June McCotter. Here are their stories, and we’re sure you’ll thoroughly enjoy viewing their fabulous artwork.
Steve is a realist artist specialising in transport themed paintings in oils and acrylics. Although Steve has always had an interest in painting, he took it up as a serious endeavour in 2003 after retirement from his professional involvement in the automotive, rail and marine industries.
Steve’s target audience is the transport professional and enthusiast and he goes to great length to ensure accuracy in his work. He has produced artwork for a number of significant transport preservation projects and milestone celebrations, both public and private, in Australia and the UK. He also produces open and limited edition prints and cards based on his paintings which are available through selected transport museums.
Articles on his work have been published in both the Australian Artist and Artists Palette magazines. Other publications include a UK transport themed calendar.
Steve has exhibited at many group art shows throughout New South Wales and has also held a number of solo exhibitions. His paintings are held in private collections in Australia, Europe, Japan and the United States. He has been very successful with sales and has received a number of awards including Best Oil Painting at the Art of Sydney exhibition.
Trish started painting about 20 years ago and over the years developed her own realist impressionist style, using her preferred oil and acrylic mediums. She has further refined her skills by attending many workshops and demonstrations by well-known Australian Artists who have given her guidance and inspiration.
She loves to get outdoors at every opportunity to paint the beautiful landscapes surrounding her and enjoys painting trips away with fellow artist friends.
Trish is currently a member of the Oatley 101 Art Society and the Combined Art Societies of Sydney and has been exhibiting her work through these Art Societies for several years. She also exhibits at The Royal Easter Show, Art of Sydney and many smaller exhibitions and has won several awards including; First, Highly Commended, Commended and Finalist. Trish has been very successful at selling her work at various exhibitions and through OzArt Finder.
We are proud to present Trish as one of our featured artists for August and wish her all the best for continued success in the future.
Born in regional Queensland, June spent her youth on the land at their family cattle station. At the age of 20 she joined the Air Force and soon after married. She and her husband then moved back to the land and raised four children. Now semi-retired, she has moved to the Sunshine Coast where she devotes her time to painting.
June finds painting is a great way of communicating intimate reactions to nature, life and the world around her. She is greatly influenced by nature and natural rustic, abstract themes. She believes being faithful to her subjects allows her to gain insight into her work which in turn gives her a better perspective and understanding of her surroundings. She is forever interested in capturing the fleeting essence of each subject and believes that a painting must display the heart and soul of the artist to qualify as ’Art’.
Since dedicating her life to painting, June has held many successful exhibitions and has received many awards. She feels honoured to have received The Gold Medallion for Arts and also feels honoured by all her patrons who have purchased her paintings.
