Group Information
The Bowral & District Art Society is non-profit organisation. Their objective is to foster the practice of the visual arts in the Southern Highlands. The Society relies on volunteers to help with the many activities that take place throughout the year.
In 1970, through the generosity of Edgar Bent, the Society acquired the cottage in Short Street, Bowral, which is still its permanent home.
In 1993, a separate building was built in the grounds to accommodate workshops and art classes.
In 2006, the members of the Society voted to change the name to the Bowral & District Art Society. In 2010, a Sculpture Garden was developed and in 2011, the workshop was extended and renovated to provide an excellent facility for both adults and children.
The BDAS continues to be a very active centre for the Arts in The Southern Highlands.
