Group Information
Goulburn Art Society was founded in 1904 and since that time has held numerous exhibitions and has had some prominent artists among its members. The Goulburn & District Art Society has been in its present form since the 1950s.
As a dedicated group of artists we aim to foster art in the local community. We encourage artists in their endeavours, unite them in their shared passion and bring art to the attention of the general public. We do this through regular painting days, workshops and exhibitions through the year.
Our most important annual event is the Goulburn Workers Club Art Prize in October. As an open exhibition with good prize money, it attracts artists from a wide area including the ACT, Sydney, the Southern Highlands and Tablelands, Central and South Coasts, Victoria and Queensland.
We are grateful for the generous financial and other support of the Goulburn Workers Club, Goulburn Mulwaree Council, numerous local businesses and individuals.
Since 2019 we rent from Goulburn Mulwaree Council, a large space in the old storage depot on the corner of Bourke and Combermere Streets that is our Art Studio where we have our painting days, hold regular meetings and conduct workshops.
