The Hawthorn Artists Society is a non profit organisation who's aims including fostering and encouraging all kinds of visual art. The Society has a proud history spanning over thirty five years and during that time some of the most distinguished artists in Australia have worked, studied, lectured and participated in the studio activities.
The Society offers:
- Classes with renowned Australian and international artists
- Untutored life drawing classes
- Artists talks
The society’s base is primarily local and relies on its membership and community support to provide a space where a wide range of styles and methods are supported and encouraged.

Annual membership is $50 and is due for payment between 31st December and the 31st March. This subscription fee is for all ( i.e.: there are no student, family or pensioner discounts.)
Please note that a new members joining between 31 December and 31 March 1 will pay the full subscription. A new member joining at any other time will pay $30.
Exhibition 2018 (Further details are available on the HAS website).
The theme is one model – Carmine - One subject by many artists.
Carmine is a popular life model at HAS and will continue to be available for bookings by your group through 2018.
The submission to The Hawthorn Arts Centre to host the exhibition will be completed in June 2017. If successful, the exhibition will be held at the Project WALL space in 2018. So there is plenty of time to complete more artwork of Carmine.
Regular Art Classes
Hawthorn Artists Society runs untutored life drawing sessions every week during the school terms.
Untutored portrait drawing and painting is on Thursday morning with a professional model in street clothes.
