Kyneton Art Group
|Region:||Daylesford & Macedon Ranges|
|Number of Members:||Approximately 30|
In 1977 a group of ladies attending evening art classes at the Kyneton High School decided to start afternoon meetings at the Presbyterian Sunday School Hall. This was the beginning of the Kyneton Art Group with just 11 members.
The group flourished under the thoughtful care of Stephen West who worked with a grant from the Victorian Arts Council and initiated the move into the Red Brick Hall as the weekly meeting place, paying rent to the Macedon Ranges Shire Council.
Today, the Kyneton Art Group has around 30 members who meet once a week. The primary aim of the group is to provide fellowship and a studio space with opportunity for artistic creativity.
The group is a friendly one, not intimidating. Members work in any media available and their artistic experience is varied from beginners to professional artists. The group is also diverse in its styles and media. They provide great support and encouragement within the group.
The group is currently creating a new website. In the meantime, they are listed under Regional Arts Victoria.
New members are warmly welcomed to this friendly group and guests may attend scheduled workshops and gallery visits.
Meetings are held every Tuesday from 10am to 4pm at the Red Brick Hall in Kyneton.
New members are always welcome. To join the Kyneton Art Group, please contact Carole Baillie 0481 480 121 for an application form or download the form from their website.
Annual Membership fee is $40.
The Group's Annual Art Show is held yearly in September, in conjunction with the Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival. All works are for sale.
It is a judged show with approximately $1,500 in cash prizes and vouchers as 2nd prizes.
Throughout the year the group hosts regular workshops with a variety of guest tutors.
