Group Information
The Queensland Art Society, in Brisbane was initiated in 1887. As the Society grew, they later established two other locations; in Rockhampton and the Gold Coast.
The Rockhampton branch of RQAS was formed in 1947 and has a long and proud history of supporting the arts and artists in regional Queensland.
In regional Queensland it can sometimes be difficult for artists to network with each other, to grow in their skills and expression and find a space to exhibit their work. The RQAS is indeed such a place, and has been an important group for local artists for over 60 years.
