The Art Society of Tasmania was established in 1884 making it one of the oldest art societies in Australia.

Membership Information
The Art Society offers a variety of activities for members including the opportunity to meet like-minded artists and to participate in workshops, exhibitions and social outings.
The Society also has a library for your use and a website on which you can promote your work and add your site link.
The Art Society is still growing, offering regular exhibition and educational opportunities to Tasmanian artists.
Membership fees;
There are three levels of membership that become due on the 1st of January.
Full exhibiting member - $50.00.
Student member - $ 30.00 (on presentation of Student ID Card).
Social member - $40.00.
The fees include a one-off joining fee of $10.00.
Events
Exhibitions
Exhibitions change each month alternating members’ exhibitions with those of feature artists.
Members are invited to submit works in any medium to the regular themed exhibitions.
The Society reserves the right to refuse to hang works which do not meet the required standards.
All exhibited works must be for sale. There is usually a $5 entry fee per work.
The Society charges 25% commission on works sold.
