Group Information
The West Australian Society of Arts Inc. is the oldest art society in Western Australia and can trace its beginnings back to 1890 (Formally established in 1896).
Patron: His Excellency the Honourable Christopher John Dawson APM, 34th Governor of Western Australia.
The West Australian Society of Arts exists to advance painting, sculpture, architecture and the kindred arts in the Colony; to associate its members together for mutual work and study; and to disseminate that elevating influence among the people that must result from a study of the true and beautiful.

Membership Information
The Society has approx. 200 members, from beginners to professionals. New members are welcome.
Meetings; Monthly meetings are held at the Palms in Subiaco.
Membership benefits
WASA offer to promote our members' exhibitions through our website, social media platforms, and newsletter. Members can submit promotional materials via email or at our monthly General Meeting. Email: janeholly@westnet.com.au
WASA newsletters are emailed monthly to all members to inform them of up and coming events or workshops, winners of the various painting categories, and President's report.
Membership fees:
WASA MEMBERSHIP PER ANNUM – $100.00
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP FEE – $50.00 (Could all ARMY DEVELOPMENT ART candidates please contact Suzanne – suzannemcg@hotmail.com)
WASA Country Members – $50.00
WASA members living 100km or more from Perth CBD
WASA Disabled Members – $50.00
WASA Student Members – $50.00
Student members must hold a current student card or equivalent or members participating in an agreed Mentor Programme with an accredited WASA artist.
WASA Senior Members – No Fee On application only, aged 75 years or over who have held continuous WASA membership for more than five years, will have annual membership fees waived, but will still be required to pay for exhibitions and events.

MONTHLY DEMONSTRATIONS
Notable artists of different genres are invited to demonstrate their techniques and processes in front of WASA members and visitors for approximately an hour after the general meeting.
Members are encouraged to ask questions and discuss the methods and processes being used to further their knowledge and skills.
Artists often show different stages in completing work and bring several examples of their paintings and artwork for display and sale.
WASA uses a top-of-the-range sound system. A wireless 'hands-free' head microphone is used. The audience also has a wireless microphone to ask questions, making the session interactive.
Demonstrators bring examples of their work, paintings for sale, flyers, and cards to promote their classes and exhibitions.
