Background
Alison Clark is an award winning Australian artist specialising in African Wildlife painting, and she also paints equine and companion animal subjects. Her life-long passion for animals and nature is evident in her sensitively executed works in pastel, acrylic and oil.
Her work has been published in "Australian Artist" magazine and in the US collectors' magazine "Wildlife Art", and has also been featured in the books “An African Legend -White Lions and Leopards” and “Luminous Colour - Showcasing Australian Pastel Artists”. She exhibits regularly in Australia, including the Pastel Society of Victoria annual exhibition, Wildlife Art Society of Australasia exhibitions and at the Old Post Office Gallery, Seymour. She has works in Australian and international collections.
Regular travel to the wild animals' habitats enables her to gather reference material and to experience the animals, their lives and environment. These experiences translate into her work. She has also done conservation volunteer work on numerous occasions in South Africa and Namibia where it was possible to both study and get very close to elephants, wild dogs, lions, leopards and cheetahs. In 2008 she spent time as a conservation volunteer at Makalali Reserve on the elephant immuno-contraceptive research program, with further travel through Botswana and Zambia gathering references for paintings, and returned to Africa in 2010 for more volunteering. In 2013 she completed a wildlife photography internship in South Africa.
