Background

Heinz was born in Germany and arrived in Australia as a very young child. His family briefly lived in the bush on the west coast of Tasmania before settling in Launceston. They embraced the Australian way of life, and Heinz attended the local primary school until the family relocated to Melbourne in 1957 to start a smallgoods business. Later, Heinz returned to Tasmania and completed his university education, graduating with Bachelor of Economics. He then worked as an accountant in Australia and London before returning home to become a partner in the family business.

After retiring, Heinz started painting as a hobby, and discovered a long hidden talent.

Painting became his passion, and he travels extensively around Australia to gain inspiration for his art. His paintings are varied and range from the vibrant colours of the Australian Outback to the serene coastlines of the Mornington Peninsula.

The joy of painting drives Heinz to produce art for others to enjoy, and the awards won along the way are a bonus, reinforcing the successful improvement in his craft that he is always seeking to achieve.
