Background
I started painting on retirement from teaching, joining an oil painting class at Kogarah Bay, learning oil painting techniques from a master artist and enjoying the benefits of social life with like-minded artists.
Along the way I have experimented with acrylics, watercolour and mixed media. Mostly these days I paint with acrylics but enjoy painting small watercolours and cards. I have found painting to be a vehicle for my mental relaxation, to preserve my personal space and as a form of creative expression which can be both solitary yet social. I enjoy painting floral compositions and still life; life drawing in charcoal; and painting birds, especially pelicans.
My next goal is to develop a more contemporary style and branch into abstract works.
Awards & Achievements Include:
I have won several awards for her artworks including small works in 2018, highly commended for abstract mixed media and still life in St. George Art Society; finalist in Georges River Art Prize and Bayside Art Prizes 2019; exhibited in Friends on Show-Hazelhurst 2023; prize winner (landscape) Friends of Maliana 2023.
