Background

Melissa Fraser is best known for her lively still lifes and large landscapes. Born in Melbourne, Australia, Melissa works primarily in oils. “In my work, I aim to convey a feeling, an atmosphere, an expression of life, rather than a copy of it”.

Much of Melissa’s inspiration comes from her travels in Australia and overseas, she brings those observations and paintings to life in her studio, a converted horse stable overlooking a magnificent oak tree. Her desire to simplify her work and her art is reflected in her paintings, and has seen Melissa’s art develop into a contemporary, figurative style.

Over the years, Melissa has held solo exhibitions, and participated in group exhibitions, most recently at The Victorian Artists Society (of which she is a member), with the 'Four plus one' group.

Her work is held in various collections including Epworth Healthcare Art Collection, Melbourne Magistrates Court, Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Legal Offices in Melbourne and private collections in Australia and the UK.

Melissa’s oil paintings are usually on large box canvases ready for hanging.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Education – Major in Art.
