|Artist Name:||Melissa Fraser|
Melbourne born Melissa Fraser graduated from Phillip Institute of Technology, Coburg in 1986 where she majored in art while completing a Diploma of Primary Teaching, and later a Bachelor of Education.
Her art has developed over the years from her deep love of travel. The people, the cultures and scenery of India, China, Japan, Russia, Turkey and England among others have provided inspiration for many of her paintings and resulted in a large body of work.
Her work as Media Adviser at the Law Institute of Victoria inspired an exhibition of works based on the legal fraternity. During this period, Melissa was commissioned for a series of paintings of court houses that were featured in the Law Institute Journal. Most of these paintings were sold to private buyers, legal offices, the Melbourne Magistrate's Court and the (former) Administrative Appeals Tribunal of Victoria.
In her most recent body of work, Melissa has taken inspiration from the countryside both locally and overseas to create some very large landscapes. These paintings reflect Melissa’s desire to simplify her work, something which has become a real focus for Melissa in recent years.
Bachelor of Education – Major in Art.
Art Work in Private Collections:
