Background
Victoria’s work explores life from a slightly different angle, using symbol and metaphor for the spiritual stories and memories of life depicted through everyday objects. There is a particular interest in the narrative of the daily ritual use of cups & teapots that connect us to both past and present.
Through entering various Art Competitions over 20 plus years, she has enjoyed the honour of being awarded many 1st Prizes for both her Still Life and Portraiture. More recently in 2017, she was selected as a Semi Finalist for the coveted Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.
She also shares her skills with others through tutoring on the Sunshine Coast. Invitations to tutor Art in most mediums & levels are welcome as she actively encourages her students to develop their own unique style and giftedness.
Having published a book entitled ‘Touch by Adoption –Journeys Toward Wholeness’ several years ago, she is also currently working on a Portrait Series with fellow artist Almeta Lennon entitled “Up Close & Personal with Adoption & Fostering.” Due for exhibition in November 2018 at St John’s Cathedral in Brisbane
Victoria is currently represented at the galleries listed below along with a list of memberships and has representation in the Australian Catholic University Collection of Canberra, Caboolture Mental Health Facility and various personal collections both in Australia and overseas.
Artist’s Statement
I have tutored locally in most media over the past 25 years but specialise in acrylic glazes for both Portraiture and Still Life works. I have also been a Guest Tutor for various Art Groups on the Coast and Brisbane and have been honoured to be Semi Finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, plus a Finalist in the EMSLA Awards (National Fine Art Prize in Coffs Harbour). I would be interested to register as an Art Tutor and Artist.
I have some work displayed at the ‘Secrets on the Lake Gallery’ presently. otherwise viewing by appointment is welcomed.
