Background:
Having retired from Secondary Art Teaching after 41 years with the Education Department, I have begun my ‘second life’ as an Artist and Adult Art Coach. My teaching history includes YORK J.H.S., NORTHAM S.H.S., BALGAS.H.S, Mt. LAWLEY S.H.S., and PERTH MODERN SECONDARY SCHOOLS. [Mod for 23 years]. I have taught many subjects other than art, predominantly English, Mathematics and Physical Education.
I have been Head of most Secondary school Art Departments above and Senior Teacher which includes policy, programming, discipline, assessment, modelling, responsibility for university entrance and teacher training.
I have expertise in drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, graphics, printmaking, murals, set design and production, costume jewellery and décor design, art evaluation and art history.
Retirement was forced on me by knee and feet problems and hearing difficulty.
Since 2008 when I began as an artist I have entered many community, school, and country exhibitions with some sales and prises. I have shown set up exhibitions in cafes. I have been commissioned to produce several large murals;
-Loftus Health Club; a four walled mural with raised textured features.
-Lords Health Centre; a feature wall and an abstracted long side wall.
-Mt. Lawley Tennis Club; a hit up wall outside with 30+ caricatures of members.
- “Chalk Up”; a pastels pavement work for the City of Stirling Festival at the beach.
I have produced various décor items, eg. custom made Wallpaper, w/c lampshades, practical sculptures for the home and greeting cards using my own art. My art remains eclectic using most 2D mediums. I explore many themes somewhat figuratively but with a personal touch. I continually return to attempting to show movement in varied genres. The acrylic series of my dog Bundi, my self-portrait Pippa and the recent picture Busy Bali Ubud shown on this site show the principle of movement.
I have conducted many Yr. 11 and 12 one day T.E.E. revision seminars in country schools. I have conducted workshops of varying lengths for City Councils and retirement homes in Perth. My home based practice continues with small individual adult classes in varying disciplines. I look forward to art production and commissions and various teaching opportunities to expand my new horizons.

The motivation is the often expressed desire of many adults;
* to do the art they missed out on at school;
* to launch into a new aspect of creativity;
* to pursue a new challenge of mind; to develop new skills;
* to de-stress by involving oneself completely in art; [therapy and meditation]
* to simply explore a new hobby;
* to pursue excellence in art;
* or – TO CREATE THEIR OWN MAJOR ARTWORK.
