Instructor Background:

Sydney artist Paul McCarthy is a painter who seamlessly integrates colour and natural landscapes. Over his 30-year artistic career, Paul skilfully combines the exuberance of Fauvism, the delicacy of Impressionism, and the avant-garde of contemporary abstract art, creating a unique visual language. His works are renowned for their rich colours and profound understanding of light and shadow, as if exploring and singing an ode to the infinite possibilities of the Australian natural landscape. On his canvas, each stroke is a profound response to the surrounding environment, whether through vivid colour combinations or subtle, soft tones.

McCarthy's plein-air style not only captures the diverse landscapes of Australia, from the coast to the inland, from the heartland to remote areas, but also injects new, dramatic light and colours into each artwork. McCarthy's artistic footprint spans the globe, with solo and group exhibitions held nationally and internationally, including a significant exhibition in the SoHo district of New York in 2001.

He is not just a painter; he is an explorer, educator, and innovator. His art not only showcases the diversity of the Australian landscape but also demonstrates his unique understanding and profound interpretation of colour, light, and form. Through his paintings, we catch a glimpse of a vibrant, colourful world, a true embodiment of his unique artistic perspective.  Additionally, he pays attention to observing patterns and rhythms in nature, unifying his artworks through this approach.

Paul McCarthy's works are collected by many corporations and private collectors, receiving praise globally.
