About This Painting:
A fairly accurate rendition of an aurochs depicted on a cave wall by prehistoric people in Europe. Colours are deliberately brighter than those of the original photo, to reflect what the cave painting might have looked like when new.
Inspiration
I find cave art fascinating. The people who painted these animals had observed them finely and their art gives us a glimpse into a different world, in a long-forgotten time. I like to find the compositions among the painted figures that work as paintings, and replicate them so that more people can appreciate the originals.
