About This Painting:
Painted with soft pastels using a bold application of colour and thick mark making to convey the energy and drama of the stormy sky. The land is simplified and minimally conveyed to draw attention to the storm above.
Inspiration
Storms in the outback can be terrifying and furious and as the ground is so dry and often in drought the water can't be absorbed but sits on top and floods. This was one such storm in the north of South Australia.
