About This Painting:
By simplifying what I see and removing the detail I am able to break down the scene into simple blocks of colour, shapes, shadows and light. Whilst not photo realistic, the viewer can still instantly recognise what the subject is. Lemon Light is all about the beautiful warm sunlight that filters through the trees in the late afternoon, with matching reflections in the water.
Inspiration
On hot, summer days in the Flinders Ranges the river beds are almost dry and the bush sizzles and buzzes with heat and the sounds of insects. This is the best time of day in the late afternoon when the sunlight shines through the trees and bounces off whatever water is left in the creeks. A beautiful tranquil scene to fill your home with sunshine.
