Inspiration

I had planned to paint at the local races on Melbourne Cup Day when an old fellow suggested that I paint these two legends of the Cup — Makybe Diva and Glen Boss. His suggestion stayed with me, and I was inspired to capture not only their remarkable racing history, but also the genuine connection and trust between this extraordinary horse and her jockey. Their partnership and the special relationship they shared became the heart of this painting.
