About This Painting:
Pure watercolour, one or two tiny corrections with gouache. Applied fairly drily. Made the image stand out by painting the background solid black. Following something Matisse said: if you have some black and some white in a painting, they make the other colours appear brighter.
Inspiration
Passing a neighbour's fully-laden tree on a walk, took a photo and worked from it, obviously some adjustments to the composition and details. I enthused about the burgeoning life that was evident in this cluster of fruit and leaves.
