Background:
Greg Smith is an Artist and Art teacher. His works are well known and is highly regarded for his landscapes and still life studies. His works excel in his use of chiaroscuro and traditional oils.
Greg is a past President and current Honorary Life Member of the Victorian Artists Society. His achievements are recognised by over 35 Solo Exhibitions, over 160 Art Awards, numerous judging duties, lectures, demonstrations and 26 years of teaching. He has also run Plein Air Painting trips and outdoor activities for the Victorian Artists Society among many other duties and events.
All subject matter, whether it’s portraiture, the human figure, still life and floral studies or landscapes are all painted directly from life in a tonal realist style. Greg strongly believes that true light and colour can only be achieved by painting from life and reinforces this belief in teaching painting skills to his dedicated students through visual knowledge.
