About This Painting:
A surge of incandescent colour breaks through a field of tranquil blue — a dance of molten reds, oranges, and yellows that seem to hover between combustion and ascent. The impasto surface, thick and tactile, holds the memory of gesture and breath, as if the act of painting itself were a kind of ignition.
Light gathers on the raised textures, shifting subtly as the viewer moves, so that the painting feels perpetually alive — a moment of transformation suspended between fire and air. In its intensity lies a quiet balance, a sense that what burns also illuminates, and that energy, once released, becomes its own kind of stillness.
Inspiration
This painting emerged from a fascination with elemental energy – the meeting point of energy and stillness — where motion seems to crystallize into being, and form begins to emerge from chaos. Working with the impasto technique, I wanted the paint to assert its own presence: to feel alive, molten, almost breathing. The vibrant reds and oranges against blue evoke both fire and renewal, destruction and rebirth. For me, the process was almost meditative — building layer upon layer until the surface itself seemed to pulse with heat.
The inspiration came from watching the play of light and colour at sunset, when the sky burns before surrendering to night. In that fleeting moment, there is both beauty and impermanence — a reminder that every spark carries the potential for both creation and release.
